Caltech Professor Tsao Laboratory
Project Description Completion of new lab within an existing building. The project included new exhaust systems, and modifications to the existing building air handling systems. The lab includes (5) tight-tolerance temperature/pressure variable air control zones, complete with corresponding variable exhaust valves. The controls include occupied/unoccupied controls allowing the air handling system's air volume to be decreased when the lab is unoccupied resulting in energy savings. The plumbing system included process utilities including DI water, vacuum, high-pressure air, lab compressed air, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, oxygen, acid waste and vent, industrial cold and hot water, industrial waste, and domestic cold water.
